ABOUT THE PENNSYLVANIA EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP LLC

Background

The Pennsylvania Education Partnership LLC, formerly Jewish Scholarship, LLC, is a Pennsylvania Limited Liability Company formed in 2015. The Company was organized for the purpose of affording to Members the opportunity to make contributions to the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and/or the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs.

  • The EITC provides tax credits for gifts given in support of students who qualify for financial aid, while the OSTC specifically provides support for qualifying students from low-achieving school districts. These are districts with public schools that perform in the bottom 15% of Pennsylvania schools. Businesses may apply for both programs within a given year.

What is a PEP Special Purpose Entity?
A Special Purpose Entity is a pass-through partnership that exists solely for the purpose of obtaining Pennsylvania Education Improvement Credits (EITC/OSTC).  It enables the individual's Pennsylvania tax liability to flow through it for the purpose of participating in the EITC/OSTC program. It is the SPE that makes the application to the Commonwealth on behalf of its members.

Membership in a PEP SPE is your vehicle for participation in the EITC/OSTC program to benefit our region's Jewish schools.

Thanks to the members of the PEP Special Purpose Entities, EITC and OSTC funds have provided needs-based scholarships to children attending the 11 Jewish day schools, Orot (the special needs initiative that provides support in some Philadelphia day schools, 25+ Jewish preschools, and numerous other non-public schools, in the Philadelphia region.

PEP Supports Education

The Pennsylvania Education Partnership LLC makes contributions to local Jewish schools through the Foundation for Jewish Day Schools, a 501(c)(3) organization.  In the 2021/2022 school year, over $8 million in needs-based scholarships were awarded to children attending a Jewish day school or Jewish preschool in our region.

PEP also makes contributions to numerous schools which are recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development as approved Scholarship Organizations. Schools include those which support children with learning differences and vulnerable populations, in addition to a number of private schools.
